Supervisors handled a series of routine fiscal and administrative items during the Jan. 2 meeting, approving authority for the county auditor to pay postage and salaries, endorsing payment of the county's 2026 claims, designating the county's official newspapers and approving banking depositories and a temporary road-closure resolution.
At the start of the business agenda the board voted to authorize the county auditor to pay postage, express rates, salaries and wages. The board then discussed and approved the county claims for 2026, with supervisors confirming that majority signatures authorize payments. The board also reviewed a letter required by state code naming official legal publications and approved the county's selections while noting a pending legislative change to online publication rules.
On the consent/resolutions docket supervisors approved resolution 1-2-2026A to authorize temporary road closures, and resolution 1-2-2026B to affirm the county depository banks and amounts for the coming year. For the departmental depositories, supervisors noted no changes from last year and approved those lists as well.
