Public works reports smooth storm response; fire department cites call volumes and Feb. 4 banquet

Public Works Director Sam Shaffer reported that the recent storm “was not what they expected” and that the crew’s response went well; he said the recycling fence project is progressing and that a previously out‑of‑service truck has been repaired and returned to service.

Captain Seth Heddings reported annual and year‑to‑date call volumes: for 2022 the department logged 339 fire calls, 423 volunteer ambulance calls and 2,586 mic‑unit calls; in 2023 to date there have been 14 fire calls, 41 volunteer ambulance calls and 173 mic‑unit calls. Heddings also announced the Fireman's Banquet scheduled for Feb. 4.
