Mifflin Borough elects new council president, reappoints borough officials

Randy Foose was elected president of Mifflin Borough Council during the Jan. 5 meeting after nominations and unanimous affirmation by the council. Mayor James Berrier opened the session, and the council also nominated George Berrier for vice president and Joseph Kramer as chairman pro tem.

Council moved and affirmed a slate of reappointments for borough officials: Don Zagursky as borough solicitor (motion by Joseph Long, second by Joseph Kramer), Bill Scott as borough engineer (motion by Joseph Kramer), Timothy Delancey as foreman/maintenance, Lesa Kramer as land use permit officer, Codes Assessment Professionals for code enforcement, and Lindsay Hahn to serve as both secretary and treasurer. The council formally recognized Mifflintown Hose Company as the borough's fire company and CJEMS as the ambulance service.

The council also set its regular meeting schedule — the first Monday of every month at 7:00 p.m., shifting to the next Monday if the date falls on a holiday — and announced committee assignments for Health & Welfare, Building & Streets, Recreation, Solid Waste, and Budget & Finance. Motions to appoint officials and adopt the meeting schedule were made and affirmed by voice vote.
