Visitor raises alarm about Mifflin Fire Department selling equipment

Sam Stine addressed council during the visitors portion about concerns that the Mifflin Fire Department is selling equipment and supplies. Stine said Delaware Township has expressed interest in a brush truck and bingo supplies and relayed that a lifetime member, Randy Lauver, reported a takeover; "they were told it will take months to years to resolve," Stine said.

Council discussed legal options and agreed the solicitor should be consulted. Joseph Kramer said a court might need to appoint who is officially in charge of the department's business dealings, and council indicated they would reach out to Solicitor Don Zagursky for guidance and that residents had also been advised to contact the attorney general's office. No formal council action to seize or redirect assets was recorded during the meeting.
