Rotan'9s independent auditors notify city they will stop services after fiscal 2025

The chair read a letter to the council stating the city's independent auditors will end their services for the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 2025 and recommending that the city retain a new accounting firm. The message, signed by Gerald Rogers, cited staffing shortages, difficulty attracting accounting professionals and a narrowing of the firm's service focus as primary reasons for the decision.

The chair said the letter arrived too late for the current agenda and that the council will put a request for proposals on next month's agenda to secure a new auditor and facilitate a smooth transition. "We will cease our services as the city of Roan's independent auditors," the chair read aloud from the letter, which the council recorded as coming from Gerald Rogers. The auditors offered to cooperate with the successor firm and requested an authorization letter to permit transfer of workpapers.
