Benzie County Central board eyes August 2026 sinking-fund renewal, may include buses

The Benzie County Central Board of Education discussed placing a sinking-fund renewal for preventative maintenance on the August 2026 ballot, with a second opportunity to present the question in November 2026 if needed. Board members debated whether to seek a straight renewal or propose a reduced-ask renewal that could allow the district to purchase buses.

Trustees agreed that forming an ad hoc committee of community members will be necessary to guide outreach and education. Board members discussed multiple communication avenues — social media, BCTV, student and alumni participation, and photographs — to provide factual information to voters.
