Board authorizes auditor payments, cigarette permits and transaction authority for 2026

During the Jan. 2 special session, the board approved a suite of routine administrative resolutions. The board authorized the county auditor to issue cigarette permits for the 2026 calendar year and adopted a resolution authorizing the auditor to make ordinary payments (water, lights, insurance, payrolls as fixed by the board, postage, court reporter/jury/witness fees, and other listed items).

Supervisors asked staff to provide periodic payroll reporting (e.g., quarterly) so the board has visibility into payroll and salary totals after payments are approved. The board also passed a resolution authorizing county auditor Karen Sho Walter to conduct claims and payroll transactions on behalf of the auditor's office effective Jan. 1, 2026; that resolution was approved by roll-call vote.
