Pocono Heritage Land Trust signals legal challenge if board approves settlement

Louise Troutman, speaking for the Pocono Heritage Land Trust, told the Board of Supervisors that her organization will pursue legal remedies if the settlement allowing a proposed data center is approved. Troutman said the Land Trust objects to what it described as an effective bypass of the Zoning Hearing Board's written decision and pledged to intervene to protect regional conservation interests.

The warning from the Land Trust followed a series of public comments from abutting property owners and conservation-minded residents who said the settlement could set a precedent that encourages more data centers on sensitive lands in the region. The board accepted the settlement after an executive session; the Land Trust's notice of intent to litigate remains outstanding.
