Residents raise concerns about records access and tax payment options; community thanks outgoing mayor

Several residents spoke during the public-comment portion of the Jan. 5 reorganization meeting. Ed Washburn asked that the Piper family’s legacy not be tarnished by recent events. David Piper asked why checks written and Treasurer’s reports were only provided to council; Borough Secretary Dawn Earhart said those reports are on display at regular monthly meetings and copies will be made available to any resident upon request.

Jean Tomkovicz asked where she could pay taxes; Earhart said residents may pay at the Borough Building on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or drop payments in the outside drop-off box at any time. If a resident needs to meet the tax collector for other matters, appointments will be scheduled after hours at the borough building. Denni Grassel thanked Alyce Urban for her years of service as Delmont Borough’s mayor; residents and council applauded.
