Board authorizes notice of non-reemployment for a temporary certificated employee

The Willits Unified School District board reported during its regular meeting that it acted in closed session to authorize the superintendent or designee to notify a temporary certificated employee that the employee will not be reemployed for the 2026-27 school year pursuant to Education Code 44,954.

Board President Jamie King read the condensed closed-session report, saying trustees "voted in favor of item a and item c," and identified trustees Nunez, Bilker, King and Cipney as voting yes; April Lampridge was out that night. The board did not record any no votes or abstentions in the report to the public.

The board provided no additional details about the specific personnel matter in open session. Under the district's policy and the Ralph M. Brown Act constraints King reminded the public that the board's ability to respond to non-agendized matters during public comment is limited and that the superintendent may follow up as appropriate.
