Board authorizes change order to reinforce Ocean Beach transient dock

The board approved a change order with Fire Island Marine Services to strengthen the transient dock after an inspection showed additional reinforcement was needed. The vendor provided an estimated cost of $7,650; trustees capped the work at a not-to-exceed $15,300 to cover up to a dozen new pylons, though staff said they expect only six will be required.

Clerk-level staff described the need for extra pylons to make the dock more secure and asked the board to accept the vendor’s estimate with a practical cap. Trustee Levine moved the motion and it was seconded and approved by voice vote.

The board also directed DPW to proceed with removal of an old dock master shed (added to the agenda as item 15) and set follow-up actions for DPW to coordinate removal and storage of materials.
