IOM Band outlines vision for Acorn Ridge Casino as town-hall opens in Plymouth

The town hall opened with a reading of a letter from the IOM Band of Miwok Indians outlining the Acorn Ridge Casino project and its expected local economic contribution. The letter said the casinos 60,000-square-foot property will include a restaurant called Stone Creek Kitchen and an Old Roots Bar, and that the tribe received thousands of job applications during online hiring and a job fair. "From the moment guests arrive, our hope is they will see how open and connected to the landscape Acorn Ridge is," the read statement said, attributed to chair Sarah Duchte.

Cameron Beck, the citys interim city manager, introduced the ad hoc committee working with the tribe and said officials will continue conversations about operational impacts and mitigation. He and other city officials said the statement shows the tribes stated intent to hire locally and to offer dining and outdoor amenities; they also signaled that detailed mitigation and operational questions raised by residents will be handled through follow-up meetings and city council reports. The city agreed to make contact information for the tribe available for residents seeking direct answers.
