Resident says new STR rules cost bookings, cites grandfathered living space

Amy Dittman submitted a written comment explaining that her home, built in 1968 before current FEMA flood maps, contains a 340-square-foot downstairs bedroom and bathroom that "has continuously functioned as a living space." She wrote that the space was previously grandfathered and that recent ordinance changes removing a bedroom and bathroom from allowable counts have caused a sharp decline in bookings.

Dittman said the family has maintained required insurance and other compliance measures. She wrote that, prior to the change, the home would typically be booked through June but that after the ordinance change her calendar shows just a single reservation. The written comment requested council consideration of those grandfathering claims and the economic impact on compliant property owners.
