Montebello — The Montebello Historic Preservation and Parks Commission asked Village Attorney Warren Berbit on Dec. 3 to draft a resolution exploring designation of the KGPP as a pedestrian-only park, commissioners said at their meeting at Montebello Village Hall.
Chairman Matt Moetzinger and Member Lisa Levin introduced a flyer from the Ramsey Police Department and the Ramsey Board of Health describing a proposed Ramsey, N.J., ordinance that would regulate electric scooters, e-bikes, skateboards and other motorized personal devices in public spaces. The commission said designating KGPP for pedestrians only could improve safety for walkers and reduce noise; commissioners also noted the park is described in the record as a "passive park" and said they are uncertain what that classification legally allows.
A formal motion to ask the attorney to prepare the pedestrian-only resolution was made by Member Bill Ellsworth and seconded by Member Rosemary Mocio; the transcript records that "all were in favor." The commission said it will conduct walkthroughs and intends to propose the change to the Board of Trustees after follow-up. The transcript does not list individual roll-call votes for the motion.
