Applicant outlines Nalu Dry Goods retail plan for Ocean Beach storefront

Marie Fischer, owner of Nalu Dry Goods, Inc., described her planned Ocean Beach outlet during the April 11 joint meeting.

"So it's just going to be a retail store with apparel and accessories, coastal apparel and accessories," Fischer said, adding that she plans to carry national brands such as Tommy Bahama, Marine Layer and Billabong alongside proprietary merchandise made for Ocean Beach. She said the store would likely employ one to two people per shift and operate roughly 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., adjusting hours to match traffic.

Fischer said she expects to open "end of this month to about October depending on traffic," noting that some hours and staffing will be flexible based on demand. The board asked only limited follow-up questions about hours, employees and the sign proposal.
