Weber County approves feasibility-study contract to examine moving Ogden Valley wastewater to Central Weber

The Weber County Board of Commissioners voted June 9 to authorize a contract with Bolland Collins and Associates to conduct a feasibility study on routing wastewater from Ogden Valley to the Central Weber Sewer facility.

Stephanie Russell, who presented the item, said the Division of Water Quality asked the county to participate in a grant application and that the study is grant-funded: "This grant we, received is going to allow us to do that feasibility study and we're really excited to be able to have the opportunity to look at new options for the Ogden Valley and for Weber County's part of that Ogden Valley, as it pertains to environmental security, water security, and preserving the integrity of the Pine View Reservoir." Russell described the study as a proactive, exploratory effort rather than a commitment to build.

Commissioners said they supported studying the options because Pine View Reservoir provides water supply for parts of the county and because prior analysis has flagged nitrate concerns in Ogden Valley. The board approved both the master agreement and a task order (task order number 20) that outlines study deliverables; staff said the task order sets the schedule and specific deliverables for the feasibility evaluation.

The motion to approve the contract and the subsequent motion to approve the task order were each seconded and passed by voice vote.
