Commission approves travel for board member to accept national tourism award

Staff told the commission it is one of three national finalists for an ESTO innovation award and requested approval for board member Lisa Ford to travel to Philadelphia to attend the awards ceremony. A motion to approve Ford’s travel was moved and seconded; the commission voted in favor and staff will forward the approval to City Council for final authorization.

Members framed the trip as promotional: one member said Lisa “flies our flag really high” and would be an asset at the event. Staff noted the travel item must still be presented to the city council as the next procedural step before final travel authorization and city payment processing.
