Mayor and Council rescind termination of mutual aid agreement used by state and regional COG

The mayor and council voted on a motion to rescind a prior termination of a mutual aid agreement the town uses for disasters and emergencies. A council member moved to rescind the termination and another member seconded; the mayor called the voice vote and recorded that the motion passed.

A presenter told the council that although the copy they had did not list the Council of Governments (COG) at the top in the usual format, “it is in fact the 1 that is used by the state of Texas and the Council of Governments for disasters and emergencies,” and said the COG had requested the review. Keith Collin, who identified himself in the meeting, said the council had contacted COG representatives and found no substantive problems with the agreement, though one member noted the document contained only a brief reference to the COG.

The action rescinds the prior termination; the council did not record individual roll-call votes in the transcript, and the mayor announced the motion as passed by voice vote. The council then moved on to other business and set future scheduling items before adjourning into executive session.
