Council votes to revert to advance sign-up for public comments

Councilmembers debated whether citizens should be required to sign up before speaking during public comment and how long individuals should be allowed to speak. Several members argued that a sign-up process provides a record and helps maintain decorum during the government proceeding.

A motion to revert to the prior sign-up procedure was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. Chair S3 called for favor and members responded "Aye," after which the chair declared the motion carried. Councilmembers instructed staff to implement or clarify the sign-up process and record-keeping for future meetings.
