Public works reports street repairs, drainage projects and dam clearing to meet TCEQ expectations

Public-works staff reported completion of patching on Harris Street (Broadway to 5th), one active patching truck due to staffing limits and plans for paving season preparation. Staff also said crews cleared a drainage ditch behind Chandler Field and the crossover at Avenue B to improve runoff and prevent repeated flooding.

A condemned house that had burned multiple times was removed and crews continue clearing mesquite and prickly pear from the lake dam and spillway. "We're on the dam alone, we're probably about 75% done," the public-works speaker said, and staff said they aimed to finish clearing by mid-January to move toward TCEQ compliance. Future work includes clearing the drainage ditch between 13th and 14th and making small structural fixes before paving season.
