Police report shows 541 calls and dozens of traffic citations; animal control and fire also report activity

The police department reported 541 total calls for the month, including 241 traffic stops, seven arrests and 93 citations totaling $37,185. Staff said 53 of the citations were for drivers exceeding the speed limit by 15 mph or more and noted many of those stops occurred on approaches to the river-bridge area.

Animal-control staff logged 111 calls, reported nine dogs euthanized and two dogs transferred to rescue; fire department staff said they handled 10 calls including a kitchen fire and a utility-pole fire. The council received the reports and thanked staff for their responses and ongoing patrol and safety work.
