Commission discusses adding a second flat/excursion car and seeking surplus locomotive

Commission members discussed whether to pursue a second flat/excursion car to increase capacity and noted a potential lead on an observation-style car at the Niles Canyon Museum. Committee member (S4) described prior arrangements and a possible chassis lease and said any acquisition needs to be affordable and logistically practical.

The group also discussed a Bay Area government-owned locomotive that might be available if that owner upgrades; Committee member (S4) said the search focuses on rolling stock that is affordable to move and restore. One commissioner noted a candidate excursion car was available but moving or building a flat car could take more than a year if built from chassis.
