Bedford resident tells council $663 water bill, asks for help with burned building and driveway safety

Larry Waldrip, a Bedford resident at the 3200 block of Brown Trail and Eagle Drive, told the City Council his June–July water bill was $663 and that seasonal irrigation pushes his account into higher billing tiers. He said he is on a fixed income and asked staff to follow up about potential billing options or assistance.

"My water bill for the June to July cycle was $663," Waldrip said, explaining that a large corner yard and city easements make it difficult to isolate watering to avoid tiered charges. He also praised Bedford Water Department staff Blythe Reeves and Jen for their assistance and attitude.

Waldrip urged the city to address a burned‑out building at 2905 Brown Trail that has remained fenced for about three years, saying it is an eyesore at a key entry into Quailcrest Estates. He also described difficulty exiting his driveway on Brown Trail because of speeding vehicles and asked council to consider additional signage or traffic controls at nearby intersections.

Mayor acknowledged the concerns and said the city is actively pursuing legal action regarding the burned property and would have staff look into traffic safety on Brown Trail. No formal action was taken tonight beyond the pledge to follow up with staff.
