Board weighs pump replacement and creation of a water/sewer reserve fund

Town staff (S2) told the board a vendor, Laramie Resources, quoted roughly $56,000 for a replacement pump that would meet the town's immediate needs — about $40,000 less than an earlier three-phase option the board considered.

S2 and other members noted the town's sewer operating balance was read from records at about $127,000 and suggested establishing a separate revolving or capital-reserve account so user fees could be used directly for maintenance and emergency repairs. "If that pump goes now, this whole end of the town has no sewage unless you come up with $56,000," S7 said while urging a reserve.

Members asked staff to confirm vendor lead times and how long quoted prices would hold; staff agreed to return with vendor confirmations and legal guidance on whether RSAs allow moving water/sewer receipts to a maintenance reserve separate from the general fund.

No final procurement decision was taken at the meeting; board members said they prefer to identify funds before placing an order and will consider timing before year-end.
