Council discussed plans to bundle two street-repair projects — Live Oak Lane and the City Hall driveway — for procurement and to make the City Hall driveway ADA-compliant.
Staff said the projects will be bundled to conform with procurement rules and that Melanie Norris, the assigned engineer, will prepare a complete bid package with specifications including milling/overlay quantities, soil types and timeline. "If council approves today for us to go forward to the next phase in this process, then by the next city council meeting on September 9, then we'll have a package for you that says here's exactly what we want," a staff presenter said.
Council members discussed trimming the tree line, potential loss and gain of parking spots because of reconfiguration, and whether material testing would be required; the engineer advised material testing was not necessary for this asphalt work. Council indicated support for proceeding to bid preparation and directed staff to return with the full bid package at the September meeting.
