Spencer Zamora of the Office of the Governor Economic Development and Tourism presented a certificate recognizing Bryan as a Tourism Friendly Texas certified community and outlined the program's goals and resources for local tourism promotion.
"So far, we have 157 participating communities, and 89 of those communities are certified, and Bryan is the newest one," Zamora said, describing the program established in 2024 and noting that in 2025 Bryan saw $190,000,000 in tourism-related spending that supported about 2,300 jobs and generated roughly $8,200,000 in local tax revenue.
The mayor and council thanked the Destination Bryan team and the governor's office representative for the recognition. The presentation highlighted local attractions and annual events including First Friday, Legends Event Center programming and the Brazos Valley Fair and Rodeo as drivers of the local tourism economy.
