Legends Event Center says it�s near capacity as major events drive tourism

A representative from SFC, the management firm for Legends Event Center, told the City of Bryan council that the venue is approaching full utilization and that large special events are producing sharp economic activity.

"We are the convention center for this area," the presenter said, noting SFC now manages more than 140 venues and that recent events brought heavy traffic: "Almost... 20,000 people came through the doors in 3 days," including about 1,100 vendor tables at a recent gun show. The presenter said Mondays through Thursdays are full, evening courts are heavily used, and the center often must displace local youth and community programming when hosting non-sports special events.

Councilors heard that SFCs growth has come partly through acquisitions and expanded services (wellness centers, municipal golf, ice-rink management), and that the team is weighing whether to add courts or dates given current space constraints. The presenter said the facility has a high economic and community value but that management must balance recruiting large out-of-town events with preserving space for local teams and regular programming.

Council members thanked SFC staff for their operations and coordination with city public-safety personnel. The presentation did not propose an immediate action or budget change; it served as an annual operational update and context for Destination Bryans metrics.
