Fitchburg plans Sept. 19 electronics-and-shred recycling day; city seeks a few more volunteers

City staff described logistics for a fall recycling day set for Sept. 19 that will combine electronics collection and paper shredding at the City Hall campus. "Resource Solutions... will be sending out I think it's about 1000 flyers," the staff member said, and commissioners agreed to use social media and on‑campus postings to promote the event.

Volunteers were the chief staffing concern: one regular helper is likely unavailable, and members said they could cover the early, busiest hour but hoped to recruit another one or two people for paper handling and traffic routing. Commissioners suggested handing out a quarter‑page postcard or a sheet with a QR code to people sitting in cars waiting in line so the city can cross‑promote upcoming events.
