Commissioners praise plastics event; consider presenting Fitchburg model at state conference

Presenters who ran the July plastic recycling event described an engaged audience and hands‑on material demonstrations. "I was trying to count everyone in the room, and I think it was, like, around 45 or so, maybe," one presenter said, while another counted roughly 25–30 attendees; commissioners agreed turnout and engagement justified repeating the program and potentially bringing the content to the February Wisconsin Integrated Resource Management Conference at the Grand Geneva.

The program included a recycling overview, an introduction to the new plastic drop‑off site, a sustainable swap table, and a raffle of sustainable items. Speakers noted strong interest in which businesses accept recycled materials and encouraged continuing public Q&A elements in future events.
