Council recognizes volunteer Alan Beauchamp for trail and cycling advocacy

City Council honored Alan Beauchamp on Aug. 11 during a newly established annual community recognition program. Councilman Lin Weber introduced the award and described Beauchamp’s leadership on local rides, adaptive cycling and trail outreach; attendees then heard brief remarks from nonprofit and city leaders.

Glenn Carlson, executive director of the Trails and Open Space Coalition, praised Beauchamp’s consistency and community focus, saying, "Alan is incredibly energetic, incredibly positive." Jerry Cordova, stormwater specialist for the city, and Jeff Cooper of the Richard Petritz Foundation each described Beauchamp’s role connecting residents to parks and trails. Skyler Rorbaugh, director of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services, thanked Beauchamp for his advocacy on behalf of underserved neighborhoods. Beauchamp accepted the recognition and encouraged others to find ways to "add value" to the community. The council then took a photo to mark the honor.
