Neighboring building at 1552 29th Court South also recommended for condemnation

Staff presented a separate summary for the neighboring fire-damaged structure addressed as 1552 29th Court South and said it sits on the same parcel that shows up as 1540 in tax records. The abatement board’s findings for the second building mirrored the first: open to the elements, charred structural members, missing cladding and a continued public-safety concern after the abatement window expired.

Staff recommended condemnation under the applicable state code and said, as with the adjacent building, demolition costs would be returned to council for a lien against the property if the city moves forward. Council agreed to set the matter for a public hearing at the next regular meeting.
