Planning staff: 'The Woods' putting-golf venue cleared planning and faces noise/light questions at public hearing

Planning staff told council that the development plan for The Woods, a putting-golf entertainment venue on Scott Street in West Homewood, was unanimously approved by the planning and zoning board and meets applicable code. Staff said the project is largely an aesthetic concern after engineering, traffic and safety reviews were completed and that the team expects to set a public hearing before council consideration.

Councilmembers asked questions about nighttime lighting and potential noise. The planner said a photometric study or a required lighting cut sheet could be requested from the developer as part of the development-review process rather than by codifying a new ordinance. Staff indicated they would discuss lighting expectations with the developer and consider requiring a photometric plan as part of the permit process prior to the public hearing.
