The City of Boerne recognized City Attorney Mick McNamee at its Aug. 11 council meeting for receiving an honor from the State Bar of Texas government law section.
City Manager Ben opened the presentation, saying the award recognizes "attorneys who demonstrate excellence, dedication to public service, professionalism, and ethics," and noted McNamee's long municipal career. McNamee, who was introduced by the mayor, thanked colleagues and reflected on his time representing Boerne, recalling the Flores v. City of Boerne case that reached the U.S. Supreme Court. "This is was quite unexpected honor that I received from my peers," McNamee said.
Several council members praised McNamee's practical legal advice and mentoring. The mayor asked the council to join a group photo to mark the recognition. No action was required of the council beyond the presentation.
McNamee referenced his wide municipal practice across Texas and said representing Boerne had been a highlight of his career.
