Conservation staff seek funds to remove logjam at Panther Creek RRVT crossing; low bid $4,520

Curt Cable, Dallas County Conservation Director, submitted a request and photos documenting a logjam at the Panther Creek Raccoon River Valley Trail (RRVT) crossing west of County Road P58 and provided contractor estimates for removal.

Cable's email and attachments list three quotes: Ganoe Excavating estimated $4,520 (excavator, labor, side‑dump), Irlbeck Grading provided an estimate of $10,750 (clear trees, mobilization, trucking, regrade) and Dylan Wagner submitted a $15,000 proposal to remove the jam and haul debris. Cable noted these funds typically come from the Bike Trail Fund and asked whether the item could be placed on the consent agenda or scheduled for further board action.

The submitted materials include a short description of the work plan (chains/cables to pull debris to the bank rather than placing equipment in the water because of a silt bottom) and the three written estimates. The county packet included the quotes and a recommendation for board authorization to proceed with a selected contractor.
