Multiple residents raised safety concerns about vehicle speeds and sightline problems at two locations in New Durham: the Birch Hill/Ham Road area approaching Miller Road and a sharp bank on North Shore near Devil's Den. Residents (S7 and S9) described drivers "blowing straight across" and said people can't see around the bend. Public works staff (S6) agreed a field walk would be useful and noted that installing stop signs would likely require advance warning signage, a white stop line, and painted markings so drivers know where to stop.
Board members suggested scheduling a walk‑through so staff and members could assess sightlines before deciding on signage. "We're potentially looking to get a walk through, sometime in the future here so everybody can see exactly what we're talking about," S6 said. Staff will coordinate a site visit and report back with recommendations, including any necessary signage or road markings.
