The Hanover County School Board voted Aug. 11 to amend the FY2027 budget to carry over $2,028,200 in grant funding that was not spent by June 30, enabling the division to draw down the federal dollars in the next fiscal year.
"I move to amend the FY 2027 budget in the amount of $2,028,200 to carry over funding for programs and grants that were not completed in the prior fiscal year," Miss Lynn (S7) said when making the motion; the motion was seconded and passed on voice vote.
Budget staff explained that federal grant fiscal years differ from the division’s fiscal year, so reappropriation is a routine administrative step to keep grant projects funded. The request will move to the county finance committee and the Board of Supervisors for the county-level reappropriation steps identified in the presentation.
The board approved the motion without further discussion.
