Board weighs smart-meter opt-out fees, considering letters or citizen petition

One board member recommended compiling evidence and hosting a community educational forum on wireless technology before pursuing petitions or formal regulatory requests.

The resident and several board members emphasized equity concerns and the need for clear evidence if the board is to assert a public-health threat. The board asked staff and interested residents to research relevant bills (participants noted a Senate bill 2306 and a related house bill) and to bring data and draft language to a follow-up meeting before taking further formal steps.
