The select board and the school committee jointly appointed Michelle Joyell on Aug. 10 to fill the seat left vacant by Robert Mullin’s resignation.
Colin Weisel, town manager, explained the statutory process and said the town clerk advertised the vacancy and received two applications. "We'd like to recommend Michelle Joyell as the, next member of the school committee," Chair Eric Eldridge said as he moved the appointment. School committee members told the select board they had unanimously recommended Joyell after reviewing both candidates' letters of interest.
After a motion and second, the board voted in favor. The appointee will be sworn in by the town clerk and must complete required conflict‑of‑interest training; the appointment lasts until the next annual town election.
The appointment was procedural; no further debate or conditions were attached. The school committee adjourned its joint session immediately after the vote.
