Planning and zoning director urges modest staffing and clerk pay adjustments

Planning and zoning director Preisley described a small department "two employees" that performs a heavy research and public‑process role for landowner rights, zoning commissions and board of adjustment work. "Our staff is basically a clerk and myself," Preisley said, adding that legal publication costs, mileage and professional development are primary operational expenses.

Supervisor Rong praised the director's work coordinating volunteer commissions and the detailed public input they process. Preisley asked the board to explore ways to reward clerks and to examine possible grade adjustments while acknowledging union and transfer rules that may constrain automatic promotions; the board moved to receive the planning and zoning budget.
