Redevelopment agency nearing plan for Macy's parcel; Legacy Place leasing ramps up

A redevelopment speaker told the council that Legacy Place continues to move into final residential lease-up and that retail spaces are being filled. The speaker said park construction has begun and that the redevelopment agency's planner is finalizing concepts for Area 1A (between Edgar and Drew Streets) and for the old Macy's parcel at Brunswick Square.

If the agency approves the planner's draft, the item would be referred to the planning board for review and then return to the governing body for final action. The speaker said fair-share housing requirements and settlement terms are part of the planning considerations and that the property owner is "bullish" on starting the project as soon as approvals are obtained.
