Mayor Mary Walters presented multiple mayor’s awards of merit recognizing city employees for service and emergency response.
Public Works Director Logan Lee introduced four water treatment plant operators — Wade Hoskins, Cameron Frasier, Seth Hsu and Gilbert Cavetto — who were on shift during last December’s Skagit River flooding; Lee credited their work with preventing plant downtime. Planning staff member Libby Grange was recognized for leading the 2025 comprehensive plan and defending it through a Growth Management Hearings Board appeal. City IT staff Corby Stevens, Aaron Brown and Ian Wade were honored for extensive restoration efforts during June and July fiber outages, including long overnight shifts and improvised splice operations that minimized service disruptions.
Council and the mayor thanked award recipients and noted the importance of city employees in maintaining services during emergencies.
