Public Health committee reports grants, police policy updates and tree‑program review

Council Member Chavez reported the Public Health, Safety & Equity committee will forward nine items: contract amendments with the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for the Human Trafficking Investigators Task Force (crime analysts and investigators), a contract amendment with Canopy Roots for behavioral crisis response services, acceptance of public‑health emergency preparedness and sustainability grants, and a grant and agreement for bomb‑disposal equipment and training from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. He also said the committee received the Trees Program annual report and a presentation from the Minneapolis Tree Advisory Commission, and that staff provided an update on police policy and procedures related to two officer‑involved incidents; members requested a fuller presentation on that policing update at a future meeting.

Chavez said staff will return additional detail on the policing policy review and that committee members sought a more thorough presentation at a future public‑safety meeting.
