Superintendent highlights higher test proficiency, graduation rates and industry credentials ahead of school start

Superintendent John Kapicki used a point of privilege during the meeting to highlight recent district performance metrics and to remind families about logistics for the Wednesday school start.

Kapicki said Cabarrus County Schools "reached their highest proficiency levels ever in 2425, moving to 7th among North Carolina's 115 school districts" and noted that last year's graduation rate was "91.7 percent," with preliminary data indicating it is over 92 percent this year. He highlighted increases in Advanced Placement participation and pass rates and said students earned "8,461 industry recognized certifications valued at more than $350,000" in 2026.

Kapicki also thanked construction teams and local partners for recent ribbon cuttings at new schools and urged parents to arrive early at bus stops during the first week while routes settle. He asked families to double-check contact information and transportation plans to ensure a smooth start to the school year.
