Beam Academy asks to lease or buy East Arcadia building to open charter school

During public comment, Tyrone Tucker said Beam Academy submitted a formal request to discuss purchase or a long‑term lease of East Arcadia Elementary, which is scheduled for closure. He said the academy is a nonprofit organized to serve the East Arcadia community and that it has coordinated with local partners to ensure community benefit if it takes the property.

Tucker said the organization would seek either a long‑term lease or purchase and suggested historically similar transfers have been made for nominal amounts in other places. He emphasized Beam Academy's willingness to work collaboratively and to negotiate terms that would be mutually beneficial.
