Trustees responding to the long-range planning presentation generally favored structuring propositions so voters could choose discrete elements rather than approving a single omnibus bond. Several trustees said splitting the package (Option 3) — which would separate the elementary-campus proposition from the middle-school proposition — increases the chances of passage and gives voters clearer choices.
“I do like the 2 propositions. I believe that ... Option 3 would be what I will support based on the recommendations of our community members and the long range planning committee,” one trustee said during deliberations, citing the need to balance fiscal caution with the urgency to address capacity and failing systems. Other trustees urged patience until the full structural assessment is complete and discussed interim measures such as 'mothballing' the current building to slow deterioration while planning proceeds.
No final bond question was adopted. The board moved and seconded an adjournment and recorded that the meeting will reconvene to discuss potential bond action at the next meeting (noted 08/10/2026). A motion to adjourn was recorded as made by Heather and seconded by JR; the motion carried.
