Council approves oil-containment system for Industrial Park substation

Logan Sweeney presented a recommendation to purchase an oil containment system for the Industrial Park substation and described the product’s environmental protection function around transformers. He said the town had sought multiple quotes but only Basic Concepts provided the specified design, and that installation had been included in prior construction work.

Council approved the purchase, with one member noting that the material procurement paired with existing installation agreements. Logan described the purpose: “it basically what it does, it prevents if the transformer were to have a leak or a cash drop failure, it would prevent any of that oil from getting into the soil.” The motion to buy the containment system from Basic Concepts passed with an affirmative vote.
