Board approves $171,600 purchase of 400 iPads to modernize kindergarten devices

The Maryville Board of Education approved a $171,600 purchase of 400 iPads from Apple to update devices in all kindergarten classrooms and establish a consistent device replacement cycle across the district.

Dr. Winstead said the district recently bought many iPads for grades 4–8 and "the district plans to purchase an additional 400 iPads" rather than continue using outdated kindergarten devices for another year. He described a multi-tier replacement plan (K–3, 4–8, 9–12, and teachers) intended to make annual technology expenditures more predictable. Assistant Director of Schools Josh Oliver reported teacher training efforts in May reached about 140 K–8 teachers, with a train‑the‑trainer session planned for roughly 18 iReach coaches and a 10th‑grade MacBook Neo pilot underway at the high school. Candy Morgan moved to approve the purchase; Isaac Simerly seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
