The Erath County Commissioners Court on Aug. 10 approved a resolution authorizing a county grant to the local Meals on Wheels program. A program representative told the court the operation serves approximately 259 clients each year and delivers about 46,000 meals; annual satisfaction surveys show about 95% of clients report being satisfied with the meals.
The presenter described client demographics (about 178 females and 81 males among the served clients), the program's supplemental nutrition assistance (prescription‑required Ensure or Glucerna provided under a grant for about 500 supplemental servings per month), and a current volunteer need (13 open delivery routes each week). The chair noted the county must adopt the resolution annually to meet Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) requirements for grant funding. The motion to approve the resolution passed by voice vote.
The presenter urged community volunteers to help with deliveries and thanked commissioners and staff for their support and forthcoming routing assistance.
