Resident asks for citation after 800% property tax increase claim

A resident who gave his address as 1514 Derby Avenue told the board he was told a court case justified an approximately 800% increase in his property value but said he and his neighbor's lawyer could not find the case. "You told us that the reason our... property taxes... went up 800%... that was because of a court case. Cannot find a court case," the resident said.

The village attorney declined to discuss specifics in the public meeting because the item was not on the published agenda but briefly referenced the uniformity clause of the Wisconsin Constitution as a general principle governing taxation uniformity. The attorney said he would provide contact information and discuss the assessment question with the resident after the meeting.
