District to roll out MyRide K‑12 bus‑tracking app this week, officials say

Prince George County Public Schools communications staff demonstrated the MyRide K‑12 bus‑tracking app and said the district will begin rolling it out to parents this week, with instructions distributed in English and posted on the district website. "We have the opportunity to track the buses, and it gives not only a sense of security, it stops the worrying, the frustration that you get as a parent," Mr. Campbell said during his update.

Campbell explained parents must create an account, verify email, add their student by ID and can then view bus information and receive notifications about delays or arrivals. He emphasized security controls: the district will not leave continuous live tracking enabled to prevent potential misuse; parents will receive targeted AVL alerts when buses arrive or leave school. District staff said sign‑up instructions will be available at upcoming open house events and on social media.

Board members asked about visibility for parents whose children do not ride the bus; staff said the app shows assigned stop times and sends notifications once a bus departs and arrives. Officials asked for community patience during the initial rollout and said support materials will be provided.
